Lavish and Lethal Release – Book 4 in the Davia Glenn Series

          As I prepare for the release of the fourth book in the Davia Glenn series on November 16th, I wanted to update everyone on what went into writing and preparing this book for publication.

The Writing Part

           After I spent a year writing a book in a different genre, I worked hard to do right by Davia when I returned to the series. Re-listening to the audiobooks helped me remember and consider how to continue the journey of many characters in the cast.

Dialogue is always a favorite part for me, but I added extra layers in certain scenes. Conversations can reveal character, create underlying tension with what’s both spoken and left unsaid, and add humor.

When I “finished” writing, the book went through a series of edits, was sent to beta readers, and checked to ensure scenes flowed. Did I place those clues correctly? Did I add enough red herrings?

After edits, when I formatted this book in Vellum, autocorrect changed a Japanese yukata jacket to a yakuza jacket. I didn’t notice until I listened to my narrator read the book. If you’re not familiar, the yakuza are a type of organized crime group in Japan. So that was a pretty funny error.

               New Characters and Settings

Although many familiar faces return, I’ve added some intriguing new characters. Eathr (pronounced Ether) Bliss is a spiritual guru, Brittany and Kennedy host a book club made up of social media influencer women, and there’s a set of equestrians who inhabit the Rancho Suprema Riding Club.

              Researching expensive horse barns, riding clubs, and exclusive resorts used by billionaires for wellness helped me shape the narrative. And, of course, Stacey Templeton’s new turkey, Tiberius Thorston Templeton the 5th (Triple T5) makes an appearance wearing its latest couture hat!
